Employment Opportunity – Executive Director
MuchFACT, A Foundation To Assist Canadian Talent, seeks an Executive Director with a passion for film, music, and new media. MuchFACT is a not-for-profit foundation funded entirely by MuchMusic and MuchMore (divisions of BellMedia). The Foundation provides production grants to independent Canadian musical artists towards music video and new media productions.
Reporting to a board of directors, the Executive Director acts as key contact to stakeholders in the music, film and new media industries.
Responsibilities include:
Generally- Supervise day-to-day operations, management and administration of a +$4-million music video and new media production fund
- Report to the board of directors
- Acts as music industry, artist and film production industry liaison
- Head public relations, education and media relations initiatives
- Develop and launch funding programs to meet the needs of an ever-evolving music industry with a vision to adapt to change
- Manage staff and act as music industry and production consultant to the board
- Act as liaison with broadcast partners
- Monitor monthly spending, approves and signs off on all financial transactions
- Create campaigns, co-ventures, and special projects to promote the organization
- Creates strategic partnerships with various organizations
- Arrange yearly audit and act as prime contact for auditor
- Ensure productions are being carried out according to approved treatments
- Evaluate requests for changes to productions and approve changes within reason when they are unavoidable
- Ensure productions are completed in a timely fashion
- Handle day to day administrative correspondence, oversees all banking, legal, operations, and human resource tasks
- Ensure all applications submitted meet eligibility criteria
- Act as prime contact for board and/or jury members
- Organize board meetings, prepares agendas and reports for meetings and ensures written minutes are kept and distributed to board and jury
- Write all press releases, advertising copy, website updates
- Supervise staff, acts as chief human resources contact
- Lead special initiatives with broadcast and other partners and stakeholders
- Advise board on production viability, useing music industry experience and artist and repertoire background to provide input when required at jury meetings
- Meet with directors, producers, labels, artists and management companies to educate on the programs available and explain the application nd jury process
- Travel to music industry conferences, meets with industry representatives in various territories. Represent the organization at various music industry events (ie, Juno Awards, Polaris Music Prize, Canadian Music Week, NXNE etc.)
- Create and implement new programs or changes to programs, operations or other initiatives. Advises the board and/or jury when changes are necessary to criteria, operations and human resources
- Visit music video sets when possible
- University or College Degree or equivalent work experience leading a non-profit organization or equivalent experience within the entertainment, broadcast or film industry
- An ability to think strategically and adapt to change
- Strong problem solving, public relations and human resource skills
- Passion for music, broadcast, film and new media
